Just as scientists often test basic proofs and concepts so as to be sure more complex theories that rely on them have a solid foundation its worth checking basic social assumptions too. Black people are seven times more likely to be stopped and searched and three times more likely to be arrested than whites but only make up 1.8% of the population! Never grant the police any more respect than their actions highlight they deserve.
