Chomsky talks about the latests Wikileak (and other stuff)

Democracy Now! have spoken with Noam Chomsky on a range of topics related to the cables leaked by Wikileaks. It covers a range of topics, notably the nature of the cables consistently supporting USA biases. If they are legitimate Chomsky points out that while Arab leaders, who are dictators to a man, may see eye to eye with the US in wanting to attack Iran the actual Arab populace not only view Israel and America as far bigger threats a majority, 57% actually view the prospect of a nuclear Iran positively. For some reason Arabs think only Israel having nukes in the region is dangerous.

A lot of other excellent points are made and he draws inferences and connections between various things that are obvious when he says them but very unlikely to occurred to most of us.

As an interesting post script the wikileaks twitter highlighted a cable from the leaks describing Prince Andrew. He seems like an absolute fucking idiot.

More proof of an IT Cartel

Its not just in the area of IP law that high tech companies are acting as a cartel. It turns out that the US Justice Department has uncovered what it believes to be a deliberate suppression of IT worker's wages via agreements not to poach other company's employees. Of course these agreements wont be applied to small tech startups whose employees will be ripe for poaching (which again echoes how things are with software copyrights). I hope the Justice department ends it one way or another but it is kinda funny how this has happened to an industry in which the majority of its' workers are libertarian scum.

Manufacture several orders of magnitude less valueable than banks.

While banks got bailouts for billions of pounds £80 million for a steel foundry that would've allowed it be only 2nd in the world to forge parts for nuclear reactors is just too much.

This comes among £2 billion worth of cuts that the lib cons decided was best to announce during the world cup. Just the most sensible time to let it be known I'm sure.
